A maze of pathways takes you through the lush gardens, picnic areas and round the artificial lake.

The Grand Palace is a must-see attraction, being the most famous landmark in Bangkok. A complex of buildings, the highlight is Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), which was carved from flawless green jade. 

Getting there: BTS skytrain Saphan Taksin station (Exit 2), followed by a Chao Phraya River Express boat to Chang Pier, and then it's a short walk to the Grand Palace's main entrance.
