Built at the beginning of the 17th century, Riad Dar Kawa is situated in a maze of souks, right in the heart of Marrakech’s medina. Each year minor modifications have been made to the riad, however Dar Kawa has preserved its tranquillity and its revitalizing energy. Riad Dar Kawa is offered for exclusive private rental and the price shown is for up to 8 guests on a bed and breakfast basis.

The concept of this riad is for guests to enjoy a simple and traditional Moroccan lifestyle where they can embrace the "slow life" which is highlighted by the smell of orange trees, traditional décor, local and seasonal food, and home-made linen.

Staff & Services
Riad Dar Kawa is fully staffed and offers dining and spa services for guests during their stay. Every day guests will be served breakfast on the patio. A wide selection of fresh and homemade foods will be on offer such as bread, eggs, fruit, jams, bread puddings, yoghurt, crêpes and fresh fruit juice, depending on the inspiration of Saïda, the chef, on the day.Lunch and dinner are available for an additional charge, payable locally. This will need to be booked in advance as the kitchen only works with fresh produce, therefore nothing is stored. All menus are seasonal and use only the very best local ingredients. The inhouse staff are on hand to help you with your initial exploration of the medina and souks,  and can help you organize activities and excursions in and beyond the Medina. From hikes in the atlas to camping in the desert, or learning how to cook as the locals do, just let us know in advance and we will revert to you with some tailor-made guidance and tell you about the best places to go in Marrakech and surroundings to feed your sense of adventure!

Spa
Riad Dar Kawa's spa area is available to guests who wish to unwind and relax during their stay. The treatments offered are adapted to your needs and are made with cosmetics specially created for Dar Kawa and all from 100% natural ingredients. There is a range of massages available, along with private pilates classes, and different herbal teas to refresh yourself with. These can be paid for locally.

Mumtaz suite
The Mumtaz Suite is a spacious suite with sober and elegant decor, focusing on black and white. The suite can accommodate 2 guests in a large bedroom which can be configured as a Queen-sized bed or two singles. The suite also features a lounge area with an indoor fireplace, bathroom with a shower and dressing room.A glass pyramid floods the suite with light and windows look down onto the patio full of orange trees.This suite can accommodate up to 2 extra guests for an additional charge of €50 per person, per night.

Junior suite omani
With unique, vintage art pieces and decor, the Junior Suite Omani offers guests a warm and friendly ambience. The suite sleeps 2 guests and is comprised of a 'boudoir' style bedroom, area with daybeds/sofa beds, bathroom with shower and a dressing room. The bedroom is complete with a King-sized bed which can also be configured as two singles.This suite can accommodate up to 2 extra guests for an additional charge of €50 per person, per night.

Junior suite olmassi
Situated in a quiet area on the ground floor, the Junior Suite Olmassi has a commanding view of the patios orange trees and offers guests a stylish sanctuary. The suite is comprised of a large bedroom with a Queen-sized bed, a bathroom with a shower and twin sinks, a dressing room and a seating area with a fireplace.The Queen-sized bed has been specially created for Riad Dar Kawa and hints at traditional Morocco by using four pillars from Berber tents of a bygone era in its design.This suite can accommodate a 3rd guest for an additional charge of €50 per night.

Double room baboune
Accommodating 2 guests, the Double Room Baboune is definitely the cosiest of Dar Kawa. Once the blinds open, the sun peeps through the traditional window and the light is magnificent during the afternoon. Just like Junior Suite Olmassi, this room also had a specially crafted Queen-sized bed which makes use of old Berber tents, adding to the character of the room. The room has an an attached bathroom with a shower. 

Please note that all bedrooms are air-conditioned with the exception of the Junior Suite Olmassi which is naturally cool due to its location on the ground floor.

Roof terrace
At the heart of the riad you will find the patio, the central living space which is complete with a comfy seating area and dining area. Settle down amongst the orange trees on the large sofa which is scattered with cushions to read, relax and sip Moroccan tea, or pre book dinner and dine al-fresco. No matter what time of year, the patio is always the main area that guests congregate to.Venture up the staircase to the roof terrace, where you will find both open and shaded areas. Complete with a lounge area, dining area and Indian charpoi, which is best used during the afternoon hours, guests can rest, dine and even refresh themselves in the roof top shower. 

Local Area - Marrakech Medina
Riad Dar Kawa is located in the heart of the Marrakech Medina, within the city's UNESCO World Heritage site. The riad sits among the winding alleys (derbs) and traditional souks that define the historic core of Marrakech. Cultural landmarks and key attractions are within easy walking distance: the 16th-century Madrasa Ben Youssef is approximately a 5-minute walk, Jemaa el-Fna Square around 10 minutes on foot, and Bahia Palace about 20 minutes' walk from the riad. This central location provides direct access to the sights, markets, cafés and architecture of the old city while retaining the character and atmosphere of a traditional Moroccan riad setting.

Region - Marrakech

Getting to the villa
We recommend arranging your private airport transfer with us, as the Medina is a maze of narrow alleys and traditional derbs that can make independent navigation challenging, particularly on arrival. The drive from Marrakech Menara Airport to the Medina takes approximately 25 minutes, depending on traffic. There is now vehicular access close to Riad Dar Kawa, and your driver will drop you at the nearest accessible point, where your host will be waiting to meet you and walk you the final five minutes to the riad.
