Fethiye And Gocek Min And Max Temperatures

Fethiye is a city and district of Muğla Province in the Aegean region of Turkey and  Göcek is a small town in the Fethiye district. Gocek sits at a latitude of 36.75 degrees, at the intersection of the Mediterranean and Aegean seas Its climate is typical of the southern Mediterranean. Long hot summers are followed by autumn temperatures often  20+°C, short winters and an early spring. 

Yachtsmen prefer the more consistent weather conditions in the period May to October, although the weather can be, and often is warm and sunny right through to early December, although heavy rainfall and storms are more likely at this time of the year. 

 

    Spring (mid March to mid June);

March signifies the end of winter as the weather turns to Spring. In April temperatures reach up to 21 - 22 degrees Celcius and the orange, olive and grape trees, cedar and pine forests, pomegranate trees come to life. In May the days are sunny and afternoons are hotter with an air temperature of around 25 C. The beaches are open and you can swim in the sea and sunbathe. The sea temperature is an average of 16+°C. The evenings in spring can be cool so a jumper or cardigan is advised.  

Spring in Gocek and Fethiye is an ideal time for sightseeing trips and exploring the countryside.

 

     Summer (mid June to mid September);

Summers in Gocek and Fethiye tend to be dry, hot and sunny with minimal if any rain during June to September.

June is the driest month and there is a significant rise in temperature during this month; the daily temperature rarely drops below 30 degrees Celsius.

High tourist season has arrived, the sea has now warmed up to a pleasant swimming temperature and the restaurants and music bars are at their busiest. Boat tours around the many bays surrounding Fethiye and the 12 Islands of Gocek are a popular way to spend a relaxing day. The rugged coastline of the Fethiye district hides several rocky coves where you can explore intricate caves and swim in the crystal clear waters.

 

    Autumn (mid September to mid November);

There are still many sunny days and blue skies however, from the second half of September the temperature in the Fethiye district begins to slowly decrease. In October Gocek and Fethiye are still quite warm and the sea is very comfortable for swimming, having had all summer to heat up. The weather can be changeable and there is more chance of rain. In November the proximity of the winter is being felt - in the morning the air temperature does not exceed 14°C and at night drops to around 8°C.

 

    Winter (mid November to mid March);

Fethiye winter is short and wet although still relatively warm. Rain clouds may appear for a short time followed by overcast or sunny weather. January, February, December and November are among the rainiest months and January is the coldest month of the year, with an  average day temperature of only 10°C. The sea temperature is an average of 17°C.

In winter time tourists are still visiting Gocek and Fethiye.  The clouds bring 50-100cm of snow (usually in January) to the mountains that are right behind the town allowing for a short ski season.
